Question How to make creation of shortcuts optional?

    Hi,

Does anyone know how to make the creation of shortcuts in IS express edition "optional" at run time.
If the user chooses yes, the shortcut should be installed, on choosing no the shortcut should not be installed.
If anybody has any info on this, please help.

    Thanks,
    Gopi

    Optional shortcut

I don't know of straight forward way.

If you're not using all 3 Setup Types, then the following might work for you:
    - create a new Feature for shortcuts
    - name one of the Setup Types something like "create shortcuts"
    - assign the new feature to that Setup Type only

    Hope this helps,
    Jeff

The attached TXT file contains tab-delimited info that can be pasted into a spreadsheet program (e.g. Excel) . Study the values and use that as you will. Basically, this is an example that creates a new dialog window for optionally installing start menu or desktop icons. Each icon is related to a separate feature, which is conditionally installed based on whether a check box is selected in the new dialog. Neat.
