    Installation Error

    Hello all, I am trying to install a package but keep getting the same error -

    Error Code - 5003 :0xb7
    Error Information:
    >Setupdll\setupdll.cpp (998)
    $7.0.100.1342
    @Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 5 (1381) IE 4.40.1381.1

    when running the setup program. I have used the same package on another 300 machines all of the same configuration and have had no problems with any of these. I have looked on the Error Knowledge base but there are no documents for this error available. The closest macth I can find is for a RTE5005 that has the same text on it and this advises to move a setup file. I haev searched for this file but cannot find it anywhere. I have also checked the whole of the System drive and compared this to one where the install worked fine and cannot see any differences there either. Any suggestions will be much appreciated as I need to get this software installed ASAP.

    Can you try the following?

    1) Go to the system folder ( \winnt\system32) and find cabinet.dll;
    2) If you can find this file, rename it to something like cabinet_backup.dll

    3) Run the package again to see if it works. If it works, go to the system folder to see if cabinet.dll is there.

    Let me know what happens.

    Thanks

    Installshield error: 5003:0x8004ace8

    I tried your recommendation (regarding the cabinet.dll file) it doesn't work.

    My problem may be a little different ,but it looks similar. This is what is says:

    Error code: (-5003:0x8004ace8)
    Error information:
    SetupDLL\SetupDLL.cpp\ (981)
    PAPP:uptodate

    I would appreciate if you could help.

    Tansel

    same thing.

    I have been trying to down load Games onto this computer. I tried what you had said by renaming the cabinet.dll to cabinet_backup.dll to no avail. this is the error.
