I am trying to publish Developer 7 in my Active Directory Domain. The MSI is published in the Group Policy but when I try to install the software on the machines the setup said that I cannot access the MSI file directly and must use the setup.exe.

Publishing Applications require a MSI to insert into the Group Polcy.

Does anybody know a to execute the setup MSI for Developer 7 directly

Your options are:

1. Modify the project to override the event OnMsiSilentInstall. Then the MSI can be deployed silently without setup.exe.

2. Use a ZAP file. (See MSDN for more information.)

3. Rewrite the project to be a Basic MSI project instead of Standard. Note that if your UI is simple and your don't need scripting logic, then Basic MSI is probably the better choice.

I have already tried ZAP files. The problem with the is that you still need administrtive privilages to install the software. With MSI i can use the elivated privliages for standard users

How would i go about modifying the OnMsiSilentInstall option?

OnMsiSilentInstall is a script function so the assumption is that you can modify the source code for the setup. The OnMsiSilentInstall event is documented in the help library that comes with InstallShield Developer.
