checking for exisitng user names

Before my installation begins, I want to check the target system for the existence of any user accounts (logged on or off) called 'teacher', 'manager' or 'pupil'.

Does anyone know how to do this?

I haven't used it, but there's a "Create and Validate User Accounts" example at www.installsite.org > IS5/6 Samples > Operating System...
