One of our users reported the following problem after installing on Windows 2000 Advanced Server:

1. Installation successful as administrator
2. All applications run correctly when logged on as administrator
3. When logged on a common user, icons are not registered and exception errors on application launch because cannot read memory addresses.

He says that his problems were fixed by running the .msi package instead of the setup.exe.
This doesn't make sense to me. I was under the impression that setup.exe installed windows installer if needed and then called the .msi package.

I am unfamilar with Advanced Server and am hoping that someone can verify my user's fix - always run the .msi and not the setup.exe when installing on Advanced Server.
