View Full Version : SERIOUS Bug in Developer 7 IDE

I just lost four hours of work in ISScript due to what appears to be a
serious bug in the IDE. Here's how to reproduce it:

Goto the top of the script file (I was in the FeatureEvents.rul) and
find a spot where you would normally place a function prototype.

Place the cursor somewhere other than the leftmost edge of the window,
then touch the TAB key, followed by a few spaces, then type the word
'prototype' (without the quote). As soon as you enter the 'e' at the
end of the word prototype, Developer 7 shuts down without saving any
work and you'll find yourself back at the desktop! I have reproduced
this several times since it first happened to me...

Word to the wise - save your work OFTEN!!!

Rob Jones:

Is this 100% reproducible for you? What version of Developer 7 are you
using (7.0 or 7.01)? I am trying to reproduce this, any additional details
you can provide would be helpful. I tried the steps you outlined below,
however I did not experience the crash.

Thank you for your feedback,
Mike Marino

I'm running 7.01, and I just did it again. It only seems to work in
FeatureEvents.rul, as I could not get it to happen in setup.rul.
Also, I had to hit the TAB key twice, then three hits on the space bar
before typing 'prototype'.

BTW, I'm running this on Win2K Pro SP2.

I learned that lesson back in v6.22. You're working away and all sudden it
disappears...
