Hello all,
this is very urgent (for me at least :-)))
2 out of 100 users that installed our product (via one click web install)
reported this error and i don't know what to tell them.
IS Developer 7, Standard project.
Please help, anyone, asap.
Thank you very much in advance!

Was there text associated with this error? It sounds like this is coming
from setup.exe. in which case the error was "Unable to create InstallDriver
instance". If this is the case, try having your customers manually run
ISSCript.msi to install the scripting engine. If this does not work have
them create a log of the installation and post it here. Form the log we
should be able to determine what the failure is.

David,
thanks for the answer. It is from setup.exe, error text was "Unable to
create InstallDriver instance" and they cannot run manually ISScript.msi (i
did tell them that) because there is no ISScript.msi on their computers. And
the reason for that is because we checked the option "Download ISScript
engine from web" from http://www.installengine.com/isengine (as is default
in IS 7 developer)
Is it possible that they downloaded one click install but couldn't download
ISScript engine?
Is there any workaround?
Thanks again David.
I'm hoping for your quick reply.
Best Regards,

That is possible, but if it could download the MSI engine I don't see why
isscript would be a problem, I would also think that you would get a
different error. You may also want to examine the security settings of
these users, since InstallDriver is an external process that we are trying
to start and if these users have their security settings set to highest,
this may be something that we can't do.

Also, if you have them create the following registry entry on their machine:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\InstallShield\ISWI\7.0\SetupExeLog\VerboseLog

-and inside the key create a string value called FileName, with data set to
the path to the log file (as in C:\IS.log).

Then try to run your setup. Then send us the log file. The log file
probably specifies an error code that we can use to further determine what
the problem is.

This could also be a security issue. The log won't work here since it is
written by the driver.

Try a simple, non-download-scriptengine package on those two machines. If it
works, then it is a download problem. Otherwise, I am pretty sure on those
two machines the security is set that no outproc server can be launched. You
can use dcomcnfg to change the settings. We are going to address this issue
in upcoming release.
