Hello !
Is there any way to find out (Win NT, W2K, XP), are the user logged in as Administrator (rights to install)

I asked this same question back in Oct 2001, but no response.

It would be nice to determine if a user has admin rights before launching
an install instead of having the install check and then abort!

Maybe the moderator would like to comment?

DemoShield does not have the ability to check if the logged in user has Admin Rights.

You will need to use an external application that can check for this and proceed as necessary. A Launch Application action can be used to launch the external application.

I hope this helps,

I know that DemoShield does have the capability to check keys in the registry, so I guess my real question is:

What key in the registry does InstallShield check when performing the "IS" function when checking for admin rights?

This may be a question for the InstallShield group, so I do apologize for this post.

But I also feel there is a need for user's in this group to determine if a user has admin rights without having to create a seperate executable that is launched from DemoShield.

Any insight you may have regarding this issue would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks again for you help!

I use Install Sheald to find out admin rights (there it is easy).

I think it would be nicer for customer know directly when is launch CD, that he is not admin croup.
