View Full Version : Feature request: control over View.bmp

I'm using InstallShield Professional 6.30.

As far as I can tell, the functionality of icons in component selection uses a single fixed file, View.bmp, which can only vary by OS or language.

It would be really nice to offer some way of making this more flexible.

Perhaps a single variable / function call to set the current source for the icons would be sufficient, e.g.

VIEW_BMP="my_view.bmp";

The sorts of things this would make possible include:

a) Different component selections within an install using the selection dialogue boxes with icons.

VIEW_BMP="my_view_1.bmp";
// Do first selection dialogue
VIEW_BMP="my_view_2.bmp";
// Do second selection dialogue

b) Different media builds for different product sub-sets using different icons.

if (nMediaType=0) then
VIEW_BMP="my_view_0.bmp";
elseif (nMediaType=1) then
VIEW_BMP="my_view_1.bmp";
...
endif;

Of course, there might be a cleaner solution to this case, e.g. allowing different media builds to vary the "Setup Files" as well as the installable file groups. This would save the disk space of the different views in the different media, each of which only needs a single view.
