View Full Version : Deploying OCX

Hi everybody.

I've written an app that makes use of several OCX's but I don't know
how to make InstallShield to register them. Needless to say the thing
doesn't work on other machines if they don't have the OCX's previously
registered.

Anybody's help would be REALLY appreciated.

Thanks,

Alfonso

If you have bought InstallShield Express Professional, then please read
page 7-9 of the user's manual. It will explain how Express registers DLLs
and OCXs.

Yes but nowhere near as clear as what it should be. It explains that
you can maually register a DLL using the SWDEPEND.INI file which is
explained on P7-9 as said above.

But what it doesn't explain is how to register an OCX which requires
the use of the MFC40.DLL and the MSVCRT40.DLL in order to run
correctly. This vital piece of information (well at least to me) is
not documented.

Anyone know how to do it?

I have the version of Installshield that shipped with Delphi 2.01. Will it
register ocx's and dll's and if so how?

You add the MFC DLLs before you add the OCX. THat way the MFC DLLs get
registered before the OCX is. It is just a matter of the way you add the
DLLs.

Happy coding
