View Full Version : Icon under Windows NT

I am using ISX 2.01 and Delphi3.02.
I created a 32-Bit-Project, that installs an icon for the exe-file.
All is o.k. und Win 95, but when installing under Windows NT, and using the
Icon, the program is NOT loading correctly. I get an Exception, that is not
being thrown, when I start the prgramm directly und NT via the explorer.
It seems, that NT doesn´t understand long filenames correctly. I install und
c:\programme\webdemo, so the icon points to c:\progra~1\webdemo. That causes
the problem.
What do I have to do ?

Thanks for your answer, Heiko

Hi,
If this only occurs on that NT machine, then check the
"NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation" value of the following key. Make sure it is
not 1. If it is, set it to 0, and try your icon.
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem

Rich, thanks for your answer.
NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation IS set to 0, but the problem IS there.
I changed the path to c:\webdemo and now the icon is working well under NT.
So it really has to do with long filenames.
