View Full Version : IS not respecting over-write attributes

I am distributing an older version of comcat.dll than what's on the
destination machine. I've tried setting the group to over-write if newer
version or newer date, knowing that both of these will be false. IS is
still trying to install comcat.dll when it shouldn't be. The file
comcat.dll is marked as self-registering, needs to be right? But it
shouldn't register if it isn't installed. The bottom line is that I can't
get rid of this message during installation: Can't register comcat.dll. Can
someone help?

Thanks,

Bill

It will attempt to register the file because it is installed (at least IS
tries to).

Look at the version of your Express. Which version is it?

You can see Stefan that I am not the only one who has these problems.

Mail me please if you find a solution.

You may want to do the same as David from Sweden. Include OADIST.EXE in
your application and call it as an extension at either the end of your
installation, or before you do any data transfers with the parameters "/r:n
/q:a".
