View Full Version : How to create a ODBC System DSN?

I'm using ISX2 but it seems to only be able to create ODBC User DSNs, as
none of the ODBC System DSNs show up on the list. Is there any trick to make
ISX see, or at least make it create a System DSN?

It may be easier to test for it in VB. Trap for the error of a missing
DSN, then create one.

You can include a reg file that will setup a System DSN. I created a
System DSN and exported that key (HKLM\SOFTWARE\ODBC\ODBC.INI\) from
regedit, then just include it as a reg file to be merged at install time.
Just make sure you're installing the correct drivers first.
