Hi,

Over the weekend I rec'd a panicked message from a person installing my
software that says the installation corrupted the registry and fried the
hard drive. The only thing running at the time was Norton Antivirus
(have asked for version, but have not rec'd response).

Are there any known "issues" with InstallShield Express 2.01, a VB4
project, and Norton AntiVirus? The user's machine is a DELL P-90 with
16MB ram.

Thanks in advance!

Shawn

There are no known issues with any anti-virus program. However, during an
installation we recommend all programs be closed, including anti-virus
programs. This is to prevent any kind of conflict.

Thanks for the response :0)

The user has recovered the disk and is now attempting to reinstall. At
this point I think it's isolated to this person's machine as there have
been hundreds of installs of my software and so far not one corrupted
registry.

Now OLE files.....that's a different story but that has stabilized as
well since changing project type to VB5 (even tho it's a VB4 program :0)
and letting ISX update the OLE 2.20 files / COMCTL32.OCX files as
needed.

Thanks again,

Shawn
