Help,

I have created a VB5 app that incoporates db access using jet and the data
control.

My problem is determining the correct distribution files to use with
installshield. In particular I'm experiencing problems because I'm devolping
under Win 95 with IE4 Preview2, this means that some of my system files i.e.

StdOle2.tlb
OleAut32.dll
OlePro32.dll
AsycFilt.dll
ComCat.dll

Are newer than the files on machines with Win95 and NT, these means
installshield replaces them, which I've learnt through bitter experience
causes big problem especially with NT4, a complete re-install was required.

The VB5 setup seems to work OK, but I don't want to use it and don't
understand why when I use the files that the VB5 install uses in
Installshield my app doesn't work.

The other problem I have is getting the VB5 database functions to work
correctly. When I install my app using the files VB5 setup says I should
(but not the system files above) I get a runtime error 50003 under NT and
Win95, or database functionality doesn't work.

I have tried installshield II but it also picks out the system files above.

Basically I can't determine the correct list of files to distribute with my
app, I need ti run it under Win95 and NT4.

Any help you can give would be appreciated.

Peter.

In the scenario you have described I would suggest removing the files
Express added in from the system dir and include those found in
the setupkit\kitfil32\sys32 directory under your VB's INSTALLDIR.
