AXDist.exe is the set of redistributables relied on by Microsoft ActiveX
controls to run on 95, NT4 and NT351 machines in a self-extracting EXE
which contains a CAB file which self extracts into your
%SystemRoot%\system32 directory.

It contains OLEAUT32.dll, OLEPRO32.DLL and loads of other cool stuff.

Pretty much all MS VB 5 OCXs rely on the latest version of this having
been run.

Thats the general gist. Look it up at http://www.microsoft.com/search
and you'll get about 100 articles, of which 10 will contradict half o
what I've just said!
