View Full Version : BDE 2.5 System Params

Hi all,

Does anyone know how to set the BDE system parameters, such as LOCAL
SHARE, MINBUFSIZE, etc? Also, is there a way to set the
Drivers-Paradox-NET DIR parameter? These are very important setup
parameters for Delphi and surely ISX2 for Delphi must have an easy way
to set them.

Thanks.

I've been looking for BDE 2.5 information for months now
without any success.

Anyone with any answers.

Am I correct I get the impression

ISexpress 2.0 does not support windows 3.1 anymore
If so it is useless to me 90% of my clients use windows 3.1.
I Have IS5Pro which has no BDE support and I have been struggling for
months - almost have a script ready. I tried the Wise install package this
morning and had a full BDE win 3.1 install within an hour.
Install Shield I've been asking for help for months and months and months.
All I want is a 16 bit install for BDE with alias support.
(p.s. I Know I'm a nuisance but sometimes that is the only way to get
somebodies attention - INSTALLSHIELD HELP ME !!!!).

Wrong. ISX 2 does have 16-bit support. You can select your project type and
target platform.

Express has that. Select as Project type Delphi 1, 16-bit platform. Then
follow the BDE Wizard. Please select a FULL BDE install, it makes it easier
in terms of support.

Thank you for all your help Stefan.

I'm afraid I've given up. Never before has software defeated me.
But I'm retuning my IS5 pro to my supplier and hopefully getting a credit
and hopefully I will be able to get WISE installer because I have
lost a great deal with the (attempted) use of Installshield. Never was
I informed that the professional product did less than the express
(BDE installs) and of course that has been my problem all along.

Thank you again for all your help, I need to get back in to a successful
programming session to restore my own confidence in myself, as I said never
before have I been defeated my software. Installshiled 5 has defeated me on
many fronts.

(p.s. I did contact the person in Borland as you suggested - still waiting
for a reply).

Noela Hill.

I'm very sorry to hear that Noela. I am confident that InstallShield is a
good product that does what it promises. It is unfortunate that you
couldn't get a BDE installation to work.

Had I had the experience to work through InstallShield5 with you I am sure
we could've solved this.

I am sure that this must've killed your confidence. I know how it feels. I
hope that we can stay in touch with this.

Me too I'm afraid.

Just a footnote here.
Downlaoded Yoursful install components for Delphi
and got a working install in 3 hours. No problems!!!!!!!

I do agree that IS5Pro is a powerfull programming language.
But I can do all that already in Delphi - I just wanted a working install
after all that what is supposed to be IS5 job.

(p.s. got a reply from Borland).
Noela.
(Now I've got a solution I'm turning my back on Installshiled with glee).
