One of my users cannot install one of our products - Installshield
message :

OLE file COMPOBJ is locked and cannot be updated. Close applications
etc. etc.

She assures me she has no other applications running and that she has
rebooted but no joy. Any suggestions?

Paul,

You will need to make sure that Microsoft Office programs are shut down at the time of
installation,
including the Office Shortcut Bar.
Compobj.dll is a Microsoft Office file and can be locked by a Microsoft Office program.
If the error still occurs after you reboot make sure that none of the Microsoft Office programs
are included in the StartUp folder in the Start Menu.

I have exactly the same trouble... shutting down MS Office has worked...
until now. I have a bunch of laptops that show nothing to be running
(although COMPOBJ.DLL is definitely in use by something...). And of
course, it is long distance so I can't be there. I have tried taking out
all references to COMPOBJ.DLL, but still have the same problem. Does the
16bit ISX2.0 use this DLL? How can I get around this? The customer is
getting perturbed with me, so any quick response would be greatly
appreciated.
