View Full Version : VB5.0 - InstallShield 2.01 problem

I have an application that was written in VB5 that I'm trying to install
on another computer.

When I start the application on the newly installed machine, I get a
runtime error as the application starts.

"msvbvm50.dll is linked to missing export oleaut32.dll:421"

Both files exist on the new computer, and when I use regsvr32 on these
files and both produce errors.

Any ideas?

Mark, Alex

The computer you are installing to does not have the latest version of
the oleaut32.dll. The latest version to my knowledge is 2.20.4054 (if
you have the latest Internet Explorer, you have the latest Oleaut32.dll)

But this is not the complete answer to your problems!

Even if you include the latest Oleaut32.dll, you will still have
problems with the install unless you do this one simple thing:
Select the 'Setup Complete' dialog box and check the 'Always show
reboot computer dialog'. Then make sure the person installing selects
the option to reboot the computer.
