View Full Version : Help ..Another Problem with Registering OCX !!!!

NewsArchive

I am trying (and getting fed up with) to distribute a 32-bit VB application
that used RDO/ODBC. Whenever I run the setup program produced by IS/Express
I keep getting a message telling me the MSRDC32.OCX cannot be loaded or
registered. I have tried changing the SWDEPEND.INI file to include
Register=$(DLLSelfRegister) entry but no matter what I try it does not work
!

Has anybody experienced this problem.

Any help much appreciated.

John,

There is a few KB articles on our website site about self-registering
files that will help you out in this. I will include their reference
number to make it easier on you tracking them:

Q10120
Q10511

We also have a White paper about this that can be downloaded
from our website. You can find it in the Hot Topics section, the
exact URL for the white paper is on the website is:
http://www.installshield.com/support/is3arch/hottop.htm

These are intended for InstallShield3 not Express, but it helps get
the concepts and some things don't apply. Sorry, but this is what
I have in hand at this moment since I am working from home now
and don't have all the resources neither a good description of your
problem.

Hope it helps.

Have you included MSRDO32.DLL from your system directory in your
setup ? You'll also need the following lines in the SWDEPEND.INI
files

[MSRDC32.OCX]
Register=$(DLLSelfRegister)

[MSRDO32.DLL]
Register=$(DLLSelfRegister)

For the RDO control to properly register you'll also need to have ODBC
installed. Also check if your installation includes MFC40.DLL &
MSVCRT40.DLL.
