Hello,

is there a way to detect if the main application is running? If the
user want to make maintenance (add or delete a feature), if the application
is running, I want to show him a message to warn him. is it possible??

Thank you

Thank you but....is there a method or anything else in InstallShield that
could detect if the application is running?

Martin Dube:

You can check the status of any file through InstallScript by using the "Is"
function. Something like:

if (Is (FILE_LOCKED, "c:\\Winnt\\notepad.exe")) then
MessageBox("Notepad is locked", WARNING);
else
MessageBox("Notepad is not locked", WARNING);
endif;

Although if you are trying to uninstall the application you installed, and
the application is running, you should automatically get a message telling
you that the application needs to be shutdown before running the
uninstallation.

Hope this helps,
Mike Marino
