Just when I thought I made it out of the woods...

When I run my installation, I receive the error "Internal Error 2318:
c:\winnt\Installer\". I look it up, it says 'file does not exist', says to
increase the DiskSpace value in Setup.ini and reinstall Installer. Great,
Installer won't reinstall. Yes, the path does exist. I cannot step through
to find this error as this happens once all the dialogs are completed and
the installation is beginning. It quickly goes from 0% to 25% then throws
this error. Does anyone have any experience with this??? Thanks.

Look at this and see if this helps. This KB is on the InstallShield support

Discussion
If you have these undocumented MSI properties listed in your Directory
table, then MSI will generate errors. Some of the errors generated are:
Internal Error 2318
Fatal Error 1603

Besides the properties in the Property and Directory tables, some other
properties to avoid using in your project are listed below. (You may access
the Directory and Property tables by going to the Direct Editor view under

The last time I had this error, it was caused by me using a reserverd word
"DATABASE" as an identifier for one of my directories.

Amazing!!

Yes, I did have a "Database" directory, and yes, that reserved word was the
identifier. The directory was actually REMOVED and moved into a merge
module, but the table entry remained (take a note, IS dev team!). In the
merge module, it seems to have named the identifier uniquely...you'd think
they'd account for that in the main setup as well.

Thanks, Mike, the install now runs smoothly!
