View Full Version : Call custom dll with msm custom action

I have created a merge module to install some shared files. Those dlls files
as mentioned are having a function like dllregisterserver that I want to
call from a custom action passing a parameter. When this function works
without parameter I get the result I want. When I add the parameter (suppose
to be the INSTALLDIR) then I get the 1723 error message. What is wrong? Same
thing all the time. Without parameter everything works fine. With parameter
nothing is working. Is that a bug the IS developer 7.0 has?

Hi...

I can't tell you exactly what you have done wrong, but maybe this can give
you a clue...

1723 is a windows installer error. If you look in MSI Help Library you see
that this errorcode means:

There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A DLL required for
this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or
package vendor. Action [2], entry: [3], library: [4]

The dialog you received had 4 parameters, the 1723 code and three others..
Put the tree others in the [2], [3], [4] to read the complete message..

It seems that it isn't a Dev 7 bug...
