Chris:

setup /Verbose"c:\somelog.log"

This will give you a very detailed log.

How do you produce a log from a BasicMSI project? I just tried the above
and it didn't work.

Ah, then you have to use MSI's messy command line...

setup /v"/l*v \"c:\somelog.log\""

something like that. It will also work for standard project, but you only
see the MSI engine's log.
