Hi. I am running into a problem whenever I do an install of
the BDE. This is the error I am running into:

"Unable to create directory under C:\PROGRA~1\BORLAND\COMMON~1\BDE.
Please check your access rights to this directory"

After pressing the OK button I get the message:

"General file transfer error. Please check your target location and
try again. Error Number -5. Filename: A:\_setup.2"

I have tried to solve this problem by doing these things:

- changing directory permissions under WinNT.
- removing the BDE\IDAPI Files group, and this seems to keep
the error from happening (It also makes my program unusable).
- rebuilding multiple times.

Here are some facts about my system:

- there is 1.3 Gb free space on the target hard drive.
- There are no empty prgram groups in the installation.

Your advice and ideas are welcome...

Thanx,
Marco

I got the same error when I upgraded the BDE to 3.5 (with the FAT32 fix,
from Borland's site) to install on machines with Windows 95 OSR2.
I first installed the new BDE on the machine used for builds, and ISX
should pick up the new BDE for subsequent builds. But on taking a closer
look at the file list (for the BDE files on the .iwz's I had created
prior to the new BDE install) I noticed some files were still pointing
to the old obsolete BDE files. I got the .iwz's to refresh the BDE file
lists by unchecking and then rechecking the BDE option in the 'Select
InstallShield Objects for Delphi' dialog.
