View Full Version : COM extract at build uses short names for typelib registration

When using COM extract at build, the typelib entry in the registry always uses the short 8.3 filename notation. This causes problems when creating a Windows Installation Image file (WIM) and restoring it. The WIM file doesn't contain the 8.3 filenames so the registry information is no longer valid when restoring the image.

Why isn't IS using the long filenames or allowing us to select the type of filenames to be used in the registry.
This problem has been reported several times but no replies and it looks like it is very difficult to solve it (but it looks simple to me)
