View Full Version : SQL Scripts

Hi all,

I have been working with Installshield back in the end of 1999/2000 and now I'm back into this excellent program again :)

I didn't use any SQL Scripts back then, but now I need to do the following:

1) I need to run this SQL script on an SQL Express 2005/2008 when I tell the installScript to run it:

Here is the SQL Script:
BACKUP DATABASE nameofdb TO DISK='nameofdb.bak' WITH INIT

In InstallScript I added OnFirstUIBefore and within there it calls:

nResult = OnSQLServerInitialize( nResult );
if( nResult = BACK ) goto Dlg_FeatureTree;

When the Script comes here, the user selects database, sql server, login name etc.

How can I change the string nameofdb to what ever database the user is
choosen in OnSQLServerInitialize?

nResult = ShowObjWizardPages( nResult );
if (nResult = BACK) goto Dlg_SQLServer;

I'm guessing that the SQL Script is the best way, or?

Also, where is the best place to get on going with installShield again, I did back then a lot of installscript coding, but it was over 10 years ago...

Can I replace a string editor variable for this issue? Or how can this be done?

King Regards,
