View Full Version : Change text file after install

I am trying to replace a simple piece of text in an .addin file after install. The file is located in a sub directory of the Common Application Data folder. I have an exe file that works fine and just does a basic text replace when I run it on it's own. However, when I package it with the installer after files are copied, all the environment variables that I am using to find Common Application Data folder are coming back with screwy paths like C:\Win32\26... and of course it can't find the file it's supposed to update at that path. I even tried testing if "C:\Documents and Settings" existed and set to C:\ProgramData if not, but it just used the XP path even though I'm on a Win7 Machine and can verify the path does NOT exist...

What the heck is going on and how do you do this simple change? Should be easy?!
