View Full Version : Creating an Upgrade for a service/daemon

I've got a simple install for a program that includes an executable (appsvr.exe) which is run as a service. That executable is set up under Files->Destination Computer's Files. Right now if we make updates to that service, the user needs to do a total uninstall before they can update the service. What is the correct way to create an install that allows an upgrade without having to do a total uninstall? I tried doing a minor and major update, but I can't get either to work.

The wizard is asking for a msi (which I don't have) or an .exe (but this appsvr.exe isn't a setup.exe, so it isn't valid to the wizard) of which neither work.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance!
