View Full Version : "Generic" registry AppSearch?

Greetings,

I've set a bunch of registry entries across my project under the following key, which works wonderfully:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\MyCompany\MyProduct\[ProductVersion]

Since I have Product Version (in general settings) set to 9.0603.0, all values are written to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\MyCompany\MyProduct\9.0603.

However, for maintenance runs and other upgrades, I was attempting to use a registry-based AppSearch to retrieve some values stored here, and was bummed to find that the column of the RegLocator table isn't formatted, so the AppSearches I had set up to go after HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\MyCompany\MyProduct\[ProductVersion] weren't finding anything.

Short of storing values in a non-version-specific key, does anyone know of a means by which I can make such a "generic" AppSearch work when I change the Product Version? I was hoping to avoid having to change this setting every time we change major version numbers or branch our codebase.

Thanks much!
