View Full Version : Build automation - any ideas?

I'd like to hear your point of view on this one...

I've a basic msi project with a lot of components where most of them contains one static linked file(dll, exe) and a couple of them contains complete dynamic linked folderstructures.

Building of the installer itself as updating the upgrade table etc... is already automated but there are still a couple of steps that I needed to do manually and I'd like to see also automated... if possible

These manual steps involve:

Compare the source tree of the latest delivered release with the source tree which will be used to deliver the new release
Check if there are differences
Add new components(or add files to existing components) for new files
And/Or remove files(and components if they contain no file link anymore) who are not existing anymore in the new source tree compared with the previous one
And/Or relink (static) linked files who are renamed

I was wondering if these steps could be partly/completely automated.
If there are some of you who already do so, I would like to hear how you handle this...
