View Full Version : Express Maint. Release 2.01 and BDE Alias creation

NewsArchive

I just installed the maintenance release for InstallShield Express 2
(version 2.01), then re-ran the disk builder and copy to floppy options
on my existing Installshield Project. The BDE Alias's are still not
being created on the client's PC. I am using UNC names for alias paths,
which did work under InstallShield Express Pro 1.1.

Any ideas on how to get the BDE Alias's created?

Any help would be appreciated,

I too am having the same problem. My install program fails to create the
alias's for a MSACCESS database. The strange thing is that the install
works on some machines but not others. If I install the BDE admin
program on the target machine create the alias's manually, then my
program works, so I know the bug is just the alias creation during
install.

Any help would be appreciated.

Are you saying the Windows CE toolkit now supports Palm Pilots? Or did you
mean Palm Sized PCs?

Thanks

Hello,

I think I should make a slight correction here. Unfortunately,
InstallShield for Windows CE ( http://www.installshield.com/isce ) does
*not* support devices running Palm OS. It is intended for use with handheld
devices running the Microsoft Windows CE operating system only.

At this time ISCE only works with InstallShield Professional 5.5, but we are
working on providing an "object" for use with Professional 2000. Also, IS
Professional 2000 comes with both IS Pro 5.53 and IS Pro 6 on the CD, so
5.53 can be used until the next release of InstallShield CE.

Palm OS installations are out of my area of expertise, but I imagine either
InstallShield Express or Professional could be used. Take a look at Ed
Szalajeski's response in this newsgroup - he usually knows what he's talking
about. :-)
