I'm unable to create an InstallShield Collaboration Project with VS2008 (VSTS) on a Vista PC - ie. File | New | Project reports an error and doesn't create any files.

I'm using InstallShield Premier v15 with SP1

We're evaluating Collaboration now considering a purchase of five licenses, all team member use VSTS 2008 and all are having the same problem. We tried it on Vista x64 and x32 with the same outcome.

We can create a Collaboration project using VSTS 2008 under Windows XP, and on Vista x32 + VSTS 2005, but even after haivng created a project, if we try to open it using VSTS 2008 and Vista, the IDE hangs. Events log the following error:

Faulting application devenv.exe, version 9.0.30729.1, time stamp 0x488f2b50, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, time stamp 0x00000000, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x001fbc74, process id 0x1310, application start time 0x01c9778dcf8b1c9a.

I received the following today from Acresso Support:

"The Visual Studio crash while using IS collaboration on a 64-bit vista machine is a know issue. The existing WO# for the issue is IOC-000080051. Development team is aware of the issue and they are working on it."

I was just notified that there is a hotfix now available for InstallShield Collaboration which will fix the issue on 64-bit machines.

I'm not sure where the hotfix would be located on Flexera's website, but the hotfix was emailed to me from the support representative I worked with on this issue. I've uploaded the file here. I hope this is helpful to you.

Hi jaredfx,

I was experiencing the same problem with:

InstallShield 2010 + VS 2008 + Vista (32 bit)

I overwrote the DIMLoader.dll you mentioned and succeeded in adding a collaboration project. But I am not sure if this is correct. Because your are using InstallShield 2009 and I am using InstallShield 2010.

How can I communicate with the support team to discuss this problem?

-Best regards.

I had to upgrade our maintenance plan in order to include phone support. The support telephone number varies based on location and maintenance plan and will be listed in your "Welcome Kit". The number I have to contact support is 847-413-2896.
