View Full Version : C++ runtime error when not entering a serial number

I have an issue with regards to serial number validation in InstallShield 2008 Express version 14.

I'm using the supplied example code ValidateSN and all seems to work except if I don't enter a serial number (click Next on the Customer Information dialog without doing anything) I receive a C++ runtime error stating that s1 != NULL.

If I enter a serial number and then delete it, it tells me that it's invalid (which I would expect as it's entering the ValidateSN.dll fine).

I noticed that this is listed as an issue in the release notes but seems to be apparent on my version. I've checked for updates but it tells me no updates are available.

Any help would be appreciated.

Can you please verify the date on the ValidateSN.cpp file on your system in the ...\IS 2008 Express\Samples\ValidateSerialNumber folder? The date on the file should be 6/16/2007.
