View Full Version : Custom action not firing

06-18-2007, 04:13 PM
Hello all,

I've added a custom action node under After Ready to Remove Dialog to fire during uninstallation. The custom action is supposed to run an executable that is installed with the product and resides in the [INSTALLDIR]. The setup was created without any error or warning. It installs fine.

However, it does not fire the custom action during uninstallation at any stage.

Does anybody know why this is happening?

Any help will be appreciated,

What does the uninstallation log say?

I removed the application from the Control Panel->Add/Remove by clicking on the "Remove" button. Where can I find the uninstallation log?

I issued the following from the command line:

msiexec /x {3456C4FF-E0E3-4EA4-838E-22338AD2285BE} /l*vx "c:\Uninstall.log"

which created a long list of entries in the log file. I don't see anything that is related to the custom action that I created. What should I be looking for?

The name of custom action. If it is getting called. If not, why?

No, I couldn't see the name of the action in the previous log.

So I moved the action from "After Ready to Remove Dialog" to "Before System Changes" node. I got a warning message while building the setup project. However, the custom action was fired during uninstallation and I was able to locate the custom action name.

Thanks for your help.
