Hi,

I’m trying to install SQL Server 2005 Express SP2 (SSX2005 SP2) on Windows Vista Bussiness as a pre-requisite of my app. Because I not sure how to install SSX2005 SP2 I’ve made the following:

-Download de SP2 to C:\Programas\Macrovision\IS12 Express\Objects\SQL2005Express\SQLEXPR_SP2.EXE
-Alter the file C:\Programas\Macrovision\IS12 Express\SetupPrerequisites\Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express.prq to:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<SetupPrereq>
<conditions>
<condition
Type="16"
Comparison="2"
Path="[ProgramFilesFolder]Microsoft SQL Server\90\COM"
FileName="sqlresld90.dll"
ReturnValue="2005.90.3042.0"
/>
</conditions>
<files>
<file
LocalFile="<ISProductFolder>\Objects\SQL2005Express\SQLEXPR_SP2.EXE"
URL="http://saturn.installshield.com/devstudio/setuprequirements/sqlexpress/SQLEXPR.EXE"
CheckSum="cc50972311e47c2166b3feec0675211f"
FileSize="0,38223872"
/>
</files>
<execute
file="SQLEXPR_SP2.EXE"
cmdline=" /qb ADDLOCAL=ALL SECURITYMODE=SQL SAPWD="logi" DISABLENETWORKPROTOCOLS=0 SQLCOLLATION=SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS SQLAUTOSTART=1 ADDUSERASADMIN=1 requiresmsiengine=1 "
/>
<properties
Id="Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express"
Description="NOTA: OPCOES DE INSTALACAO ALTERADAS PELA LOGIDADOS. VER FICHEIRO C:\Programas\Macrovision\IS12 Express\SetupPrerequisites\Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express.prq This installs Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition (SQL Server Express). The /qn switch suppresses all Setup dialog boxes and error messages. See http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms144259.aspx for more information about the commad line options."
AltPrqURL="http://saturn.installshield.com/devstudio/setuprequirements/sqlexpress/Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express.prq"
/>
</SetupPrereq>

I got the ChechSum value with FCIV.EXE.

The installation runs normaly almost until the end but then I got a message saying that SQL Server Express was not installed properly and if I want to continue with the installation of my program.

Analising the event viewer I found the following warning: “The configuration of the AdminConnection\TCP protocol in the SQL instance SQLEXPRESS is not valid.” The warning is logged by the SQLBrowser service.

Despite the message, SQL Server seems to work just fine!
Do you know what may cause this situation? Do you need any log files or some other information?

If I install SSX2005 SP2 manually it installs just fine.

Thanks in advance,
Miguel Cecílio
