I think I have a few restrictions with InstallShield 12 Express or I’m just not setting up my project correctly

I want to include all of these in one project but was having issues because of both the frameworks in one project

.net framework 1.1
.net project files
Sql 2005 express
Sql studio management
.net framework 2
DBghost upgrader

So thought of splitting the project to

Application

.net framework 1.1
.net project files

Database

.net framework 2
Sql 2005 express (prerequisite option)
Sql studio management
DBGHOST Upgrader

For the sql Studio management, I don’t know where to add this as it’s an msi file, for the 12 express edition, features only adds exe/dll files. Do you think other installshield versions would allow the msi or can I achieve this with the express version?

What are the differences between InstallShield 12 and 12 Express?

thanks

Here's a link to a help topic that highlights some of the major features that are in the Premier and Professional editions of InstallShield but not in the Express edition:
http://helpnet.macrovision.com/Robo/BIN/Robo.dll?tpc=/robo/projects/isxhelp12/UpgradeIPWI.htm

In addition, the Premier and Professional editions have a Setup Prerequisite Editor tool that lets you create new setup prerequisites and edit existing ones. So, for example, you can create a setup prerequisite for each version of the .NET Framework that is required on target systems, and add those prerequistes to your project through the Redistributables view. If you have other .msi files for products that also must be present on the target system, you would also be able to create prerequisites for them.

Here are some links to related help topics that contain information about setup prerequisites (and more links to additional help topics):

Now I'm confused. This is from the IS12 Express edition help:

EDITION

InstallShield Premier Edition and InstallShield Express Edition include the Setup Prerequisite Editor, which enables you to modify and create setup prerequisites.

I cannot find the Setup Prerequisite Editor (I'm using IS12 Express) - and really need it for my build. Where did it go (or was it ever there?)?

Oh, no. I'm so sorry about that. The documentation is wrong. It's supposed to say that the Setup Prerequisite Editor is available in the Premier and Professional editions. (The Express edition has never included the Setup Prerequisite Editor.) This is logged as IOC-000057425.

Sorry about the confusion.

Can you tell me if there's documentation for the XML file generated by the Pre-req editor? I think I can back it out given enuf time, but a real doc would help!

Thanks.
