Hi all

Is there any way that I can take a .msi file and return it to a .ism file so that I can edit it?

I've got a .msi file that I want to add new files to. It seems to let me add the new file, and saves OK, but doesn't incorporate the new file in the install.

Hope I've made sense with this one!

Thanks

Daniel

hai ,

try to use orca tool, so that you can view and edit msi database.

Daniel,

It would be much easier if you created a transform. Use either the Editor or the Tuner to add the files. When you're done you'll deploy the .msi, .mst, and a cab file. That package will deliver the original application plus any files that you've added via the transform. That's the standard way of handling the issue that you have.

Hope that helps,
