View Full Version : How to select the media type

I'm stumped. I've created a project in VS.Net 2005. I'm at the "Build Your Release" view. It says on this screen:

"To build your setup, right-click a media type and select build"

So there's a bunch of media types there. I want single image. But it doesn't matter which one I right click on, nothing happens. There's no context menu and therefore no build option. If I tell it to simply build the project it creates a DVD-9 set for some reason.

How do I select the media type?

Thanks!

Every help document, tutorial or any reference to building a release says to right click the media type and choose Build. There is no such option. What do I do?

Try switching the default release type to SingleImage by doing this:
1. On the Build menu, click Configuration Manager.
2. In the Active solution configuration box, click SingleImage.

Now that SingleImage is the default type, you can build it in either one of two ways:

Press CTRL+SHIFT+B.
On the Build menu, click Build Solution.

I hope that helps.

That was it. I'd highly suggest updating your documentation and implementation within VS.Net as all messages and help on this topic is clearly incorrect.

Thanks for the reply.

Issue 1-LOUVP has been logged to make improvements in this area. Thank you for the feedback.

So SEVEN years later, the documentation STILL has not been upgraded.

MS really needs to choose a different install provider for VS!
InstallShield has gone downhill rapidly since being acquired by Macrovision (now Flexera).
