View Full Version : Can I put Windows Installer and InstallScript engines on my site?

Hi,

My customer have Internet opened only to my site. Can I put Windows Installer and InstallScript engines on my site and change MSI engine location properties accordingly? Where can I take the engiens (tried to access http://www.installengine.com/Msiengine20 / 30 but access is forbidden)
Do I need InstallScript engine when use Windows Installer project?

Yes, you can host the engines in whatever location you like. The easiest place to get the MSI engines from is from your installed version of InstallShield 12. They are located in the <IS 12.0 Install Location>\Redist\Language Independent\i386 folder

InstMsiA.exe
InstMsiW.exe

NOTE: If you are using MSI 3.0, it's in <IS 12.0 Install Location>\Redist\Language Independent\i386\MSI3.0

We eliminitated the shared InstallScript engine altogether in IS 12.0, so there is no longer a need to host ISScript.msi (if you are using InstallScript - by default it is not required for an MSI setup).
