View Full Version : InstallScript MSI - Billboard problem

After converting my InstallScript MSI project from 11.5 to 12.0, I noticed that my billboards are zooming by during the initialization for the file transfer rather than appearing during the file transfer itself.

I'm calling Enable(BACKGROUND) and Enable(STATUS or STATUSDLG or STATUSEX) in OnFirstUIBefore(), and using any number of language independent billboards. I've reproduced this by starting a new 12.0 InstallScript MSI project with a barebones script.

Is this an IS 12.0 bug, or am I missing something? Thanks!

I too have noticed the same effect. Is this a bug? It would be nice to get an answer as this looks strange when performing an installation.

I have verified this issue in 12.0. The tracking # is IOC-000052139.

Unfortunately, I do not know of any workaround for this problem.

Thanks for the response Devin. Do you know if a patch may be released that will fix this problem?

As a test can you please try the same with version 2.0 if the MSI runtime? I think there's a known problem in MSI 3.x with similar symptoms.

Actually, I am building my app with the Version 2.0 runtime. I just imported the InstallShield Project from earlier versions. Should I try something else?

KJC - I've reproduced this issue by starting a new InstallScript MSI project in 12.0 from scratch, so it doesn't look like the upgrade from previous versions of InstallShield is causing this. I've been working with Macrovision support for over a month on this, but still no answers other than it can be reproduced...
