View Full Version : Error -5009 0x8002902b

I just got InstallShield 11. I've previously been using IS 7 Pro. I created a new InstallScript project, entered my company name and web site and said not to include the license agreement dialog or the dialog where the user enters the company name. That's all I changed. Then I build the project and tried to run it just to see if I could get the initial screen to come up.

It doesn't work. I get the following error: "An error (-5009 0x8002902b) has occurred while running the setup."

This is bad. We just got the new version of IS and now I can't even seem to use it.

Here's the detail info from the error message:

I finally found a solution to this searching the forums. You just have to know the right text to search on.

I renamed the following file: c:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Professional\Runtime\ISProBE.tlb. Then I ran InstallShield 11 and it did some reconfiguring and rebuilt the file. Then I rebooted my PC. I opened my new project, rebuilt it and ran it. I was able to get to the first dialog just fine this time. Hopefully, I won't run into any other issues like this one.
