HI all

I want my installation package to check JRE and TOMCAT as prerequisites on the machine.

If they are present then the installation process will continue otherwise it will show an appropriate message to the user and aborts the installation.

Pls suggest me a way to do this in a Windows Installer Project.

Thanks in Advance

Hi ,

If JRE and TOMCAT products installed in your system. They will create some registry and folders in your system. Before you start ur install check whether this registry is available or not.

According to that show an warning mesage.

To implement this, assuming you're using a Basic MSI or InstallScript MSI (but not InstallScript) project, you'll want to use the System Search and Launch Condition support. The documentation should have more information on each.

Did you ever find an answer to this?
I found:
SOFTWARE\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat\5.5
SOFTWARE\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat\5.0

But I was wondering if there was a better way?
