View Full Version : Convert a single executable setup.exe into the regular .msi

07-14-2005, 10:48 AM
Currently I have a single setup.exe and want to uncheck the single executable option so that it creates a list of files along with the .msi file in the release folder.

I tried unchecking the "Single Executable" option but it doesnt work. I have been using a single exe file all these days but we want to convert it so that we can access the .msi file.

Please help me out.

What media type are you using? The Release Configuration panel of the Release Wizard describes the output for different combinations of media types and compression settings...

If you have an InstallShield setup.exe containing an MSI package, you can extract the MSI with an "administrative installation":

setup.exe /a

But if you want to take someone else's EXE and turn it into an MSI package, you can use the Repackager tool of AdminStudio (http://www.macrovision.com/products/flexnet_adminstudio/adminstudio/index.shtml).
