View Full Version : Couldn't install a 32bit MSI on a 64bit windows.

Hello there,

I have converted a 32bit MSI built with IS 8.0 into IS 11.0 format and that's not installing on Windows 2003 64 bit machines, both Intel64 and AMD64. Installer wizard is stright away jumping to the last Finish screen, saying it was interrupted before it could complete the installation. However, the same MSI works fine on 32 bit Windows XP.

Here are the erros from the install log:

1: GetInstallDriver, Can not find InstallDriver in ROT table, Return Code = 0x80004005
1: {5EBAF60B-F53E-4768-9935-7D596543ED3B}

1: Failed to extract _IsRes.dll, error is 2
1: Failed to extract _IsUser.dll, Ignore it.
1: ISMsiServerStartup Failure, Failed to Initialize script support, Error = 0x80010105
1: MsiServerStartup failed. Abort installation.
Action ended 18:00:52: ISMsiServerStartup. Return value 1603.
Action ended 18:00:52: ISStartup. Return value 3.
MSI (c) (88:B0) [18:00:52:660]: Doing action: SetupCompleteError

I would appreciate if any one could throw some light on these errors.

It may need MSI version 3.1 as version 3 didn't properly support x64.
