View Full Version : How to Use customactiondata with Multiple Properties

I have a deferred custom action (dll) which needs information from several properties. I know how to create a custom action which sets a single property into customactiondata, and retrieve it in the deferred custom action, but suppose I have two properties that I need to retrieve. Do I concatenate them together, set that string into customactiondata, retrieve the customactiondata and then parse the individual properties?

Right, common practice seems to be to pass something like VALUE1|VALUE2 into CustomActionData, and then take the string apart. (If you have a copy of Practical Windows Installer Solutions for Building InstallShield Setup Applications---http://www.installshield.com/ispress/pwis/default.asp---this is discussed on pp. 169-174.)
