Hi

Is it possible to do a silent installation for an existing basic msi installer package and passing in some property information?

I have a basic MSI project consists of 2 merge modules.
The installer is built in 10 languages.

I search for silent installation in InstallShield Help.
And it gives me this command :
Setup.exe /s /v"/qn

This command works perfectly.
However I want to pass in some parameter such as : INSTALLDIR, etc.

Passing INSTALLDIR is no problem.
However I also want to set other property :
1.During normal installation, I force to reboot PC : set property REBOOT = Force.
For this silent installation, I want to supress reboot.
I tried doing :
Setup.exe /s /v"/qn INSTALLDIR=D:\ProductFolder REBOOT=ReallySuppress
But it still reboot my pc anyway.

2.In one of the dialog I ask user whether they want to create shortcut.
If they do, I will set the Property :
ADD_SHORTCUT to 1 and
ADD_QUICK_LAUNCH to 1.
Both property are set to 1 by default.

During silent installation, all the shortcuts are created by default.
Is it possible to set the property to 0 such that the shortcut not created?
I tried :
Setup.exe /L1031 /s /v"/qn INSTALLDIR=D:\ProductFolder REBOOT=ReallySuppress ADD_QUICK_LAUNCH =0But still the quick launch shortcut is created.

How to pass this parameter during silent installation?

I look forward to your reply.
Thank you very much
Regards

Agustina

The first thing I noticed was for /v, there is the beginning double quote, but no ending double quote. I am not sure if the omission is accidental, or intentional.

To help yourself troubleshoot, you will want to create and analyze the installation log.
