Hey. i am new to all this stuff with install shield. before i mention the problem i will tell you my setup. i am using windows xp, and obviously install shield. i have know clue what so ever what version it is. here is the problem. when i try to install itunes (apple) i get three errors at the end of the installation. the error #'s are 1406, 1402, and 1603. now that information means nothing to me hince im new to this part of my computer. if needed i can type the errors out. they refer to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. i dont know how to get to the registry keys, or what to do when i get there. and BTW i have asked apple and they wont help me because they are not windows specialist. thanks for your help.

If nothing else, you can try Consumer Central (http://consumer.installshield.com/).

Please don't try to solve your problem by accessing REGISTRY. Unless you back it up and really undertstand the Registry you might delete something which can NEVER be recovered !

In any case Itunes can only be installed if there are NO conflicts, so here is what you do:

(1) Go to Google and type in " Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility"
Then press search. When the home page of Utility comes up scroll to where it says "download utility here". Do so and when it is on your computer, just access it. You will see a menu come up listing numerous programs. Just highlight the one that says "Itunes". Then hold down CONTROL button and scroll down to "QUICKTIME". Highlight this one as well.
Now press REMOVE (at the bottom). That's it..you are now ready to install Itunes so go to Internal Explorer and type in www.apple.com/itunes
When it comes up you will be offered free download of Itunes 6. Press Download and follow the instructions.

You will get a full download ready to play free tunes from Radio, or buy from Itune store or create a library of songs. Good luck. Ron
