I'm trying to build a release that uses the MSI 3.0 redistributable with the InstallShield 10.5 Standalone builder (ISSABLD.EXE). I cannot get the standalone build to "find" the MSI 3.0 redistributable.

Here's the error that I get:
ISDEV : error -7060: InstallShield requires that you provide the MSI 3.0 engine redistributable once it is available from Microsoft. Please copy MSI 3.0 RC2 engine redistributable file to <InstallShieldFolder>\redist\Language Independent\i386\MSI3.0\instmsi30.exe.

When I run the command dir /s instmsi30.exe, here's what I get:
D:\Program Files>dir instmsi30.exe /s

Volume in drive D has no label.
Volume Serial Number is AC4D-46EA

Directory of D:\Program Files\InstallShield 10.5\Redist\Language Independent\i386\MSI3.0

I put the instmsi30.exe files in the redist\language independent\i386\MSI30 directories myself. I don't know what the instmsi30.exe file is in the root of the standalone directory (a beta version that shouldn't have been shipped?) This project does build with the IDE.

Has anybody been able to build a MSI 3.0 project with the 10.5 standalone build? Or does anybody with the InstallShield group have any ideas what is going wrong? Thanks.

I found the entire path needed to be exactly the correct case for it to find the exe. Try changing your Redist folder name to redist.

Good luck.

I changed "Redist" in my standalone build directory to "redist" and still get the same error.

"D", are you successfully building a project including the MSI 3.0 redistributable with the 10.5 standalone build? If you are, then I'll start my process over again (uninstalling all version of InstallShield on the system and then reinstalling) and try again.

My apologies...
I ran into this issue in the regular IDE, not standalone.
I found the folders and .exe name had to be syntactically the same as the error, or the build would not find the file.

I have not tried it yet with the StandAlone build, though I would think they would be similar (though you know what happens when you "assume"...)

Good luck,

D

Installboy, did you solve the SAB problem? It also works for me in the IDE, but not using issabld.exe....

Thanks,

I migrated my installscript MSI project from Installshield 10 to 10.5 and I am getting the exact same error when I try to do a build

Does anyone know where I can download instmsi30.exe?
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=5fbc5470-b259-4733-a914-a956122e08e8&displaylang=en

Download WindowsInstaller-KB884016-v2-x86.exe into
.\Program Files\InstallShield 10.5\Redist\Language Independent\i386\msi3.0\
then rename it to instmsi30.exe.
