View Full Version : IS X Express slow when adding files?

Hi there

I've been having some trouble when using IS Express to create an installer for one of our products. The product consists of well over 40,000 files in 72 folders for a total of 5.15GB of information.

What seems to happen is that after the files are dragged and dropped, IS starts to add them to the list. I can see the individual filenames displayed in the status bar and as time goes on, the names are displayed slower and slower.

I have taken to adding the files in blocks - I am currently trying to add a block of about 2,500 files, and IS has effectively frozen. Task Manager shows the following information:

CPU 99
CPU time 45:19:01 (and increasing)
Memory 33,696K
Peak Memory 62,560K
Page faults 639,401,923 (increasing by approx 3,000 to 5,000 per second)

I have told IS to use dynamic file linking (as suggested for best speed!)

I would be grateful if anyone can suggest a means of improving this performance.

Regards,
Matt Willing

Are the files you are adding on a Network, or local to the machine?
